Currently, Athletes United for Youth operates five Support Our Students After-School Programs: Billingsville Elementary School (Grier Heights community), Bette Rae Thomas Recreational Center (Enderly Park community), Silver Mount Baptist Church, Plaza United Methodist Church, and Coulwood Middle School. All programs are FREE to enrolled youth. Our hours of operation are 2-7pm weekdays.
What are the measurable impacts/outcomes of AUFY programs?
Upon enrollment, each student in an AUFY program works with our staff to determine and achieve his/her learning goals. Our youth improve their weekly and End-of-Year testing scores in math, reading, and science, and their school report cards reflect these improvements. Our youth renew their spirit and positive outlook for learning. Their families, parents, and teachers note and reflect these changes. These youth stay in school, and they return to our safe environment to continue their after-school learning.
Our Site Coordinators also document and assess each student's performance on his/her personal goals and the goals of Athletes United for Youth. Thus far, more than 83% of youth participating in our programs have been significantly and positively impacted through our structured curricula and activities. We've seen positive changes in our communities too.

What type of computer skills are developed/needed at AUFY sites?
AUFY staff and volunteers work with students to navigate educational software and competency testing programs some on-line and some localized. Adult volunteers work on and build upon basic computer skills with most students initially. With a bit of supervision, new and creative opportunities are opened. Often times, our students teach our adult staff and volunteers. Many computer learning opportunities await both youth and adults. Contact us today to see how you can help: (704) 332-KIDS (5437).
Are programs with AUFY religiously affiliated?

AUFY's non-discrimination policy includes race, sex, color, national origin, religion, age, veteran status, marital status, disability or handicap, or any other factor prohibited by state or federal law.

Our programs focus on one-on-one mentoring, substance abuse prevention & awareness programs, family wellness training, literacy, computer learning, health & nutrition, future planning, safety education, community service, leadership, and teamwork skills. When did Athletes United for Youth start?
Since 1998, Athletes United For Youth (formerly the Dell Curry Charity 4 Youth and the Posey Foundation) has opened and operated Educational Computer Learning Centers, after-school programs, summer camps, and community events for underserved youth ages 7-16 in need of guidance and direction.
How is AUFY different from the Dell Curry Charity 4 Youth (DCC4Y)?
In 1998, Dell Curry and Jeff Hood established the Dell Curry Foundation to aid and assist youth housed within many Charlotte low-income and underserved communities. In April, 2006, Dell, Jeff, Steve Smith, Jay Bilas, and the DCC4Y board of directors formed a new community organization benefiting Charlotte-Mecklenburg's underserved youth Athletes United For Youth carrying on the missions of the Dell Curry Charity 4 Youth and the Posey Foundation.
Who are Dell Curry, Jay Bilas, & Steve Smith?
Dell Curry (former NBA 6th Man of the Year), Steve Smith (NFL All-Pro wide receiver), and Jay Bilas (ESPN TV basketball analyst) initiated the far-reaching vision of Athletes United for Youth and are continually enlisting financial support, voluntarism, and awareness of numerous celebrities, business leaders, community organizations, and volunteers to benefit youth participating in AUFY programs.
