AUFY Program Overview

Our Mission: To provide youth services throughout Charlotte-Mecklenburg communities resulting in positive attitudes in our children. A strong commitment to building character and self-esteem, as well as enhancing academic skills and creating model citizens for life.

Our Goals

1. To assist youth (ages 7-16) in preparing for a quality future educationally, spiritually, and respectfully.
2. To improve the decision-making processes, educational skill sets, and cultural awareness of youth and young adults in preparation of making future, positive contributions to society.
3. To expand collaboration between AUFY and other initiatives serving the youth and young adults of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region.

Our Focus: Funding the enhancement or expansion of Educational Computer Learning Centers and Support Our Students After-School Programs to underserved youth for FREE or minimal cost. All programs and centers are located in communities of great need with minimal computer access or educational enhancement opportunities.

Programs: AUFY has opened and operated Educational Computer Learning Centers, after-school programs, summer enrichment camps, and community events for underserved youth ages 7-16 in need of guidance and direction since 1998.

AUFY provides a full continuum of services including the selection of participants as well as follow-through components including goal-driven plans with outcome-based objectives. Youth engage in one or more of the skill-based programs within our structured after-school setting: one-on-one mentoring, substance abuse prevention & awareness programs, family wellness training, literacy, computer learning, health & nutrition, future planning, safety education, and others. Our emphasis is on academic achievement.

In addition, youth participate in community service projects to make positive contributions within Charlotte. Moreover, participants learn, develop, and practice leadership and teamwork skills.
