Program Strategies

The Athletes United for Youth was established to offer year round accessible, affordable and structured skill-based programs to youth and young adults in need of guidance and direction in planning and living quality lives. Through the leadership of Jeffrey A. Hood, Executive Director, our organization seeks to provide a full continuum of services to include the selection of participants, as well as, follow through components. Once an individual is selected, they and the program staff will develop a goal-driven plan, with outcome-based objectives.

Participants may be included in one or more of the skills-based programs offered by the Athletes United for Youth. These programs include mentoring, educational and computer enrichment, substance abuse prevention & education, family wellness awareness, self-improvement skills, decision-making and team concept awareness. Other programs will be developed as deemed necessary by the organization’s Executive Director and program staff, and according to program expansion. In addition to the skills-based programs, participants will be involved in community service projects. These projects will give the youth and young adults the opportunity to make positive contributions in Charlotte communities. Moreover, the participants will learn, develop, and practice leadership and teamwork skills.

Another feature of the Athletes United for Youth is a fundraising component. Fundraising affords participants the opportunity to invest in our community’s youth.
