Make A Difference — Impact A Child!

At some point, in each of our lives, we've had Highslide JS someone who made a huge impact on us.

It could have been teacher, a coach, a friend or a neighbor. It may have been a word of advice, a tap on the shoulder. They may have taught you to shoot baskets, ride a bike, read, or just gave you that bit of confidence that sent you on the right path in your journey to life. Whatever it was, that small gesture may have made an impact on a child....Won't you make a difference?

"If I only had the time."

That's what so many people say. What's a couple hours a day; a week or a month? Someone made time for you.

It's your turn: Volunteer, "Make a Difference — IMPACT A CHILD."

AUFY After School Program Tutors/Mentors
The Athletes United for Youth - Support Our Students (SOS Youth After-School Program) began with grant funding from the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention, a grant from Philip Morris USA, and from proceeds raised during various annual Athletes United for Youth fundraising events. Since opening this after-school program, more than 700 youth have enrolled and participated in these structured, curricula-based activities.
AUFY provides a full continuum of services including the selection of participants as well as follow-through components. Once an individual is selected, he/she and AUFY Staff develop a goal-driven plan with outcome-based objectives. Youth then engage in one or more of the skill based programs within our structured after-school setting: one-on-one mentoring, substance abuse prevention & awareness programs, family wellness training, literacy, computer learning, health & nutrition, future planning, safety education, and others.
In addition, youth participate in community service projects to make positive contributions within Charlotte. Moreover, participants learn, develop, and practice leadership and teamwork skills.
